"Swingshift Big Band under the inspiring leadership of Phil Shotton has been presenting concerts to Southport Melodic Jazz Club's festival and club audiences on a regular basis since 2006. This excellent and consistently improving band has attracted guest solo performances by some of the world's most prominent jazz musicians. Included in this long list are Australian multi-instrumental star James Morrison, US saxophonists Greg Abate and Frank Griffith, UK top line players Alan Barnes, Simon Spillett, Georgina Jackson, Dave O'Higgins, Paul Booth, Bruce Adams, Mark Nightingale and Pete Cater. The band has also accompanied and been praised for jazz vocal performances by Anita Wardell, Lee Gibson, AJ Brown and the great Liane Carroll.
Swingshift is recognised as one of the UK's leading 'semi-pro' big bands. All the players also find time for full time jobs! Swingshift concerts are always well attended and there will be another four during 2015 including a tribute concert celebrating the centenary of Frank Sinatra."
